Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 29, 2026
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. "Similar technologies" include pixels, tags and browser storage (such as localStorage) that do a comparable job. In this policy we call them all "cookies".
Some cookies are set by us (first-party); others are set by services we use (third-party). Some last only until you close your browser (session); others stay for a set time (persistent).
2. The cookies we use
Strictly necessary
Needed for the site to load, stay secure and remember your cookie choices. These do not require consent.
Analytics (consent-based where required)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand, in aggregate, which pages are read and how visitors move through the site.
Advertising and measurement (consent-based where required)
We advertise on Google Search. Google Ads tags help us measure whether an ad led to a visit and, later, to a purchase on a retailer's site, so we can stop spending on ads that don't help readers.
Affiliate click attribution
Many of our review pages link to retailers through affiliate links. When you click one, a tracking service (Ratoeira Ads) and the affiliate network record that the click came from MyGarageCare, so the retailer can credit us if you buy. This may involve passing a click identifier (for example, the ad click ID in the page address) to the retailer's site. We do not receive your name, payment details or what else you buy.
| Provider | Examples | Purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|---|
| MyGarageCare | Consent preference, site settings | Strictly necessary | Up to 12 months |
| Google Analytics 4 | _ga, _ga_* | Analytics | Up to 2 years |
| Google Ads / Tag Manager | _gcl_au, _gcl_aw | Ad measurement | Up to 90 days |
| Ratoeira Ads | Click and campaign identifiers (browser storage / script on raadstag.com) | Affiliate click attribution and ad measurement | Session to 90 days |
| Affiliate networks and retailers | Set on their sites after you click through | Crediting the referral | Set by each provider |
Cookie names and durations are set by each provider and can change. Retailers' own cookies are covered by their policies, not this one.
3. Your consent
We use Google Consent Mode. Where the law requires consent (for example, for visitors in the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area), Google analytics and advertising storage is denied by default until you agree. When storage is denied, Google tags may send limited, cookieless signals that do not identify you.
You can change your mind at any time by clearing cookies for this site in your browser; you will then be asked again where a consent prompt applies.
4. How to control cookies
- Browser settings: every major browser lets you block or delete cookies. Blocking all cookies may affect how some sites work.
- Google: you can install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on and manage ad personalization at Google My Ad Center.
- US visitors: depending on your state, you may have the right to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information for targeted advertising. See our Privacy Policy for how to make a request.
5. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page if the tools we use change. The date at the top shows the latest version.
